This Was the Future is a large, multi-media project dealing with the nature of space-time from a personal perspective. The work debates the merits of industrialization and global synchronized time using research, logic, and my own experiences of deja vu, lucid dreams, grief, and personal growth
A site-specific installation, TWTF presents multi-channel video, writings/books, drawings, and sculptures that are all in dialogue. I built a large structure to display video work entirely from salvaged material, used the gallery windows to sketch out ideas, and re-combined older pieces for the final install. Because there are so many layers of media, the show functions through the the viewer – active engagement in the subject matter and the physical space are necessary for the expression of the work, and each visitor comes away with a different understanding of the whole.
