Temporary assemblages made from a kit of scavenged matter, special artifacts and unintentional results of my handiwork. These are worked on intuitively in an ongoing practice. Each one fulfills its role for a while, and is then taken apart and returned to the kit, offering temporary "solutions" and, overall, eschewing an object-based sculptural practice. They are accumulations of material but represent the action of their construction more than a product, and translate improvisation into physical presence. I hope to diminish the distance between thinking and making through growing familiarity with a vocabulary of material, transposing strategies from music, cooking, movement and writing into the studio.
